The ePortfolio is a culminating task that highlights pieces of work created in the Rhetoric and Composition MA program at UCF. The ePortfolio is organized into three key parts: About Me, Academic Showcase, and Multimodal Projects. The linear organization helps readers navigate my ePortfolio by topic.
On the About Me page, specific content related to my identity as a writer, background, journey, and interests is highlighted. I purposefully selected an avatar-generated photo and used an AI-generated avatar for my video pitch to incorporate AI technology into my ePortfolio. AI technology is something educators and professionals need to embrace, as it will continue to develop and become more prevalent across industries. Embracing and learning to use AI generative technology, such as creating my own avatar and avatar recordings, is a way to highlight my willingness to use AI and show how it can be applied in my career. Like the video pitch, I have already started to create supplemental course materials for the courses I teach in post-secondary education. In an asynchronous learning environment, incorporating AI-generated videos and materials brings a personal touch to the virtual learning environment. Back in the day, Google was the latest and greatest technology resource. Now is the time to embrace AI and use it responsibly to continue growing with the times.
The artifacts chosen for the Academic Showcase and Multimodal Projects highlight the different media I worked with throughout the program: text, video, audio, and visuals. I need to highlight how I challenged myself to push outside of writing traditional text and engage with multimodal literacy. Using the provided feedback, final edits to ensure links to content were not missed were embedded on the pages and in the navigation bar.
The ePortfolio brings my experience in the MA program full circle. When I enrolled in the MA program, I did not have an undergraduate degree in English or a related field. Every assignment and project was an opportunity to apply what I was learning and demonstrate the use of rhetoric within my writing.
Looking forward, I plan to transition my work on burnout to my Rhet Rogers website and continue to blog on the topic. As of right now I plan to use my ePortfolio as a professional publication on my resume. When I am ready to explore additional opportunities in post-secondary education, my ePortfolio is a great resource. In the next three years my goals is to continue blogging, creating podcasts, and writing on burnout. I am not sure if my engagement will lead to anything more than continuing to engage with the topic, but who knows? Long-term I will continue to work in post-secondary education even after I retire from public education. My writing and exemplars in the eportfolio will be instrumental in obtaining new opportunities.
