Experience in Secondary and Post-Secondary Education: Science Education, School Administration and Leadership, Student Success, and Career Success. Location, Central Florida.
Education: Two earned graduate degrees in education. Never say you are done, or you will not go back because here I am earning my third graduate degree in Rhetoric and Composition fourteen years later.
Without a background or undergraduate degree in English, writing, or literature, I learned—through the guidance of wise and encouraging professors—that my own experiences and professional background are deeply relevant to writing and rhetoric. Embracing my past helped me harness new skills and confidence as a writer, becoming a foundational part of my development. Connecting with the rhetoric of reflection became a recurring theme and a valuable tool across my classes and projects.
Frame what you know to connect to what you do not yet know. As an organized and linear thinker who visualizes concepts and outcomes, I relied on my strengths to build working frameworks and organizational structures that supported my growth as a writer. Frameworks are fluid and adaptable—evolving alongside the work itself to shape and refine the final product. This process of framing familiar knowledge to engage with new ideas has been central to my learning and writing journey.
Dare to take risks and push your boundaries. Throughout my coursework, I sought opportunities to be creative, explore mediums, and experiment with new approaches to writing. These risks expanded my skills across different media, many of which are showcased on my Multimodal Projects page. Part of my success came from finding and learning user-friendly software that allowed me to produce professional-quality work while continuing to grow as a digital creator. Sticking to what you know or playing it safe does not lead to growth or evolution into something better.

Video Pitch
In this video, I share my journey as I prepare to graduate in Winter 2025 from UCF’s Rhetoric and Composition program, earning my third graduate degree and nearing retirement from public education. I explain how professional burnout led me to discover creative writing as a healing outlet, which eventually inspired me to pursue further study and grow as a writer. I talk about the meaningful opportunities I’ve gained in post-secondary education—from serving as a Subject Matter Expert to creating course materials and stepping into a lead instructor role—and how my learning in Rhetoric and Composition has shaped that growth. Looking ahead, I plan to continue writing and blogging about burnout, expand my teaching experience in higher education, and stay committed to making a positive impact on others because I truly believe in the transformative power of education.
